The Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to one or more individuals who have shown a strong commitment to and/or have had a dramatic effect on the physical therapy profession, although recipients do not have to be PTs or PTAs. The award is presented by the president of APTA of Maryland, Inc., at the Annual Fall Meeting. The award need not be given annually. The pool of candidates is drawn from letters of nomination submitted to the Distinguished Service Award Committee.

If you know someone who you think should be considered for this award, please provide the following information for the nominee: name, address, type of APTA membership (PT/PTA) if any, phone number (day/evening) and in narrative form please include an explanation of why you think this person should receive the 2011 Distinguished Service Award.

The Henry O and Florence P Kendall Award

The Kendall Award was established as a way for the APTA of Maryland to honor its members for outstanding contributions to the field of physical therapy. This award is presented at the Fall Meeting. Nominees should be: * Physical therapists or physical therapist assistants who have demonstrated outstanding service to the profession of physical therapy in the area(s) of patient care, supervision, administration, education, and/or research. * Physical therapists or physical therapist assistants who have participated and been a dominant force in activities that have significantly affected chapter or professional growth and development.

If you know of someone whom you would like to be considered for the award, please send in your nomination and include:

  1. Their name, address, telephone number, and type of APTA membership. 
  2. A narrative form, on a separate page, that documents the nominee’s specific activities and contributions and why you feel this qualifies him/her for this award to be presented at the Annual Meeting. 
  3. A current curriculum vitae for the nominee.
